The 280,000 tonnage Cidade de Ilhabela floater, converted from a VLCC at Chengxi’s facilities in Guangzhou, is heading for Brazil to serve the northern part of the Sapinhoas pre-salt field development.
The floater is owned and operated by a joint venture comprising of affiliated companies of SBM Offshore, Brazil’s Queiroz Galvao Oleo e Gas (QGOG) and Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation.
Situated in Santos basin block BM-S-9, the Sapinhoas field lies about 300 kilometres offshore in 2140 metres of water.
