Norwegian independent Aker BP’s chief executive Karl Johnny Hersvik said on Monday that he does not anticipate an end to oil and gas production in the foreseeable future, though the company’s strategy is to produce with the lowest possible emissions and costs.

The company will invest Nkr150 billion ($15.3 billion) in development projects on the Norwegian continental shelf over the next five to six years, he said.

“I do not understand the discussion about the future of oil and gas beyond 2030," Hersvik said.
