Privately owned Australian operator Kato Energy has completed the pre-front end engineering and design phase of its Corowa-Amulet offshore oil project in Western Australia.

Multiple sources said UK-based oilfield services company Petrofac has supported Kato with the pre-FEED work, while Icon Engineering is understood to have been involved at an earlier stage.

Kato is calling the development concept a "honeybee production system" involving a relocatable jack-up production platform, a short subsea flowline and a floating, storage and offloading vessel, which will offload oil to export tankers.
