CGG has unveiled a massive-scale plan to shoot close to 100,000 square kilometres of 3D seismic over a pair of offshore basins in Brazil, as the French company continues to amass data in the South American nation.

According to environmental studies submitted to federal regulator Ibama and obtained by Upstream, CGG has applied for a licence to carry out three separate surveys in the Santos and Pelotas basins in Brazil’s south-eastern coast.

The CGG programme will encompass approximately 94,750 square kilometres and is expected to last 1458 days, starting in March 2023.
