CNOOC Ltd has launched a tender to provide subsea production equipment for the giant Lingshui 25-1 gas field, increasing the momentum for oil and gas development in the South China Sea following this year’s oil price recovery.

Multiple sources familiar with the bid process told Upstream that the tender issued last week includes 12 subsea trees and three umbilicals to be installed 132 kilometres north-west of Hainan province in water depths of between 890 and 970 metres.

Participating in the bid are Norway’s Aker Solutions, London-listed TechnipFMC, and US contractors OneSubsea and Baker Hughes.
