China’s Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC) has started building ground facilities at the Kingfisher oilfield, in western Uganda’s Albertine basin.

It was awarded the engineering, procurement and construction contract by operator CNOOC (Uganda) Ltd four months ago.

COOEC will partner China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation for a work scope including the main new central processing station.

Facilities are due to be completed within 36 months at a location on the Lake Albert Buhuka Flats and will offer processing capacity for 40,000 barrels per day.
