Two yards — one in China, the other in Finland — are in a strong position to land engineering, procurement and construction contracts for the supply of topsides and hull for an unnamed spar platform destined for Shell’s $2 billion Linnorm gas condensate project offshore Norway.

Several offshore contracting sources told Upstream that China’s Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry has been chosen to build the floater’s topsides, while Finnish yard Pori Offshore Constructions has been chosen to build the hull.
