Eni has selected a major European contractor to provide a floating liquefied natural gas vessel for deployment in what will be the fourth FLNG unit the Italian company has targeted for work in Africa.

The first was the Coral Sul in Area 4 offshore Mozambique, which exported its debut cargo a few days ago. Two other vessels — one supplied by New Fortress Energy and the other acquired from Belgium’s Exmar — will be installed in Congo-Brazzaville waters.

The latest FLNG unit is also understood to be destined for Congo-Brazzaville, where Eni has uncovered 7 trillion cubic feet of gas in its shallow-water Marine XII block.
