ExxonMobil is leading talks with a trio of contractors keen on providing a second floating liquefied natural gas vessel for Area 4 in Mozambique, with a detailed price due to be submitted within months.
Market sources are uncertain about the level of commitment at this stage towards deploying another newbuild, deep-water FLNG unit, partly because the US giant is also understood to be in discussions with two other contractors about deploying a shallower water FLNG vessel in Area 4.
It is unclear if any final investment would include a scenario of both proposed developments moving forward in parallel.
