US supermajor ConocoPhillips is making headway in Malaysia with its Salam-Patawali oil development offshore Sarawak, where it is preparing to engage with providers of leased floating production, storage and offloading vessels.
Kuala Lumpur-based market sources said the US operator is keen to proceed with an FPSO development, and will be seeking an Aframax-size floater.
Malaysia’s leading FPSO contractors Bumi Armada, MISC and Yinson Holdings are said to have expressed an interest in this project, along with one or two other smaller regional players.
