China’s Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry has emerged as front-runner to build the hull and living quarters for the floating production, storage and offloading vessel destined for Equinor’s BM-C-33 (Pao de Acucar) pre-salt development in Brazil’s Campos basin, although the Norwegian operator has delayed a final investment decision on the project until mid-year.
Asia-based contracting sources said that Japan's Modec, already chosen as lead contractor to supply the BM-C-33 FPSO, has selected Cosco as to build the hull and living quarters for a unit that will have a production capacity of 125,800 barrels per day of ultra-light oil and 16 million cubic metres per day of gas.
