As Europe searches for ways to reduce its reliance on Russian gas supplies, Norway is preparing to signal it has capacity to increase its exports by several billion cubic metres per annum by the end of the current year, multiple well-placed sources told Upstream.

Norway exported 110 Bcm of gas in 2021, according to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).

The country is also one of the key suppliers to have been consulted by European Union officials about possible increases, in both the short and long term, according to well-informed sources.
