India’s Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has floated at least two new tenders for the charter of up to five rigs to drill off the country’s east and west coasts.

At least three people with direct knowledge of the tender process told Upstream that the state-controlled giant recently issued tender documents for the charter of four jack-ups and one anchor-moored offshore drilling unit.

ONGC is pressing ahead with key domestic exploration and development programmes and requires multiple rigs to be included in its drilling fleet, most likely during the second half of this year.
