Brazilian state-controlled oil company Petrobras has issued an invitation to tender to contract engineering, procurement, construction and installation services for a major fibre-optics grid to connect production platforms in the country’s prolific Campos basin.

Industry sources said invited players are expected to include TechnipFMC, Prysmian, Nexans, Alcatel Submarine Networks, Oil States and Fugro, with the companies having until 24 October to submit commercial offers.

The project’s workscope covers the supply of goods and installation of a subsea fibre-optics network system, as well as the construction of onshore telecommunications infrastructure.
