Petronas is bringing a fresh perspective to the suspended Limbayong deep-water oilfield development by re-examining the economics and viabilities of alternative concepts.

In August, Malaysia’s national energy giant confirmed it had aborted its third attempt at securing a leased floating production, storage and offloading vessel for Limbayong, offshore Sabah, East Malaysia, which could have also exploited the Bestari satellite discovery.

Limbayong was discovered in 2002 by former operator Shell and appraised in 2013.
