Qatar Petroleum (QP) is poised within weeks to launch the tender process for a prized engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract for the further development of its Idd El-Shargi North Dome (ISND) oilfield in the Persian Gulf.

At least three people with direct knowledge of the tender process told Upstream the state-controlled giant is preparing to soon launch the tender process for the next development phase of the ISND oilfield.

The tiny emirate has an oil production capacity ranging between 500,000 and 600,000 barrels per day, which is minuscule compared with other Persian Gulf heavyweights.
