Malaysian offshore builder Brooke Dockyard & Engineering Works has secured a new contract to fabricate a first-of-its-kind offshore platform for a Shell-led offshore gas project in the country.

Shell made a final investment decision last month on the Timi project, and said the offshore platform would be powered by a solar and wind hybrid renewable power system.

The unmanned platform will be about 60% lighter than a conventional tender assist drilling wellhead platform, Shell has said.
