At least four leading international contracting giants are in the frame for a prized offshore maintenance contract from Saudi Aramco that involves the further development of its Qatif oilfield.

Two people with direct knowledge of the tender process told Upstream that technical and commercial offers for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract were submitted on 17 January by a quartet of contractors.

The offshore project is a part of the Saudi Arabia’s lucrative long-term agreement with international offshore players, which envisages maintaining the production profile of some of the kingdom’s largest offshore fields.
