Shell and Equinor have teamed up again in the deep-water US Gulf of Mexico to progress the Sparta (formerly North Platte) oil project, with all eyes firmly on the development concept choices they will make.

Under the previous operator TotalEnergies, the development was set to comprise a large semi-submersible offshore platform connected to a large subsea production system.
