French supermajor Total is close to awarding a major logistics contract for its $3.6 billion East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), with three groups still officially in the running.
According to two sources familiar with EACOP — which will carry oil from Hoima in Uganda to Tanga port in Tanzania — the logistics contract will cover the delivery of line pipe for the 1443-kilometre pipeline and is expected to be worth between $100 million and $200 million.
