Tripoli-based Sarir Oil Operations Company has started bid processes covering the supply of three drilling rigs for onshore duties.

Sarir is a recently established joint venture between state-owned NOC and Germany’s Wintershall Dea that controls acreage on the Sirte basin.

The operator needs a pair of 2000-horsepower rigs for development drilling operations in Al Wahat region, about 1200 kilometres south-east of Tripoli.

According to pre-qualification documentation, the rigs will work in Area 91 and Area 107, with one unit chartered for two years and the other for 12 months.
