Three Asian yards are in the final stage of a battle to win a major contract offered by Malaysian floater specialist Yinson Holdings for the floating production, storage and offloading vessel destined for Petrobras’ Parque das Baleias project in the Campos basin offshore Brazil.

Asian yard sources told Upstream that Yinson is has almost completed assessing the proposals submitted by Dubai-based yard Drydocks World, China’s Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry and compatriot CIMC Raffles.

The sources added that the Chinese duo are said to have the edge in the tender race, given Drydocks World’s current workload.
