Aker BP has made a minor discovery at the high-pressure and high-temperature Kark prospect off Norway, but the find is not large enough to commercialise.
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) confirmed Friday the 2/1-17 S wildcat in production licence 019 C had reached a depth of 4322 metres before being terminated in the Tyne Group in the Upper Jurassic.
The well failed to intersect oil in the Upper Jurassic reservoir rocks in the primary target Ula formation, however a layer of about five metres of oil-bearing sandstones with good reservoir quality was intersected in the secondary target Eldfisk formation.
