Equinor's Cappahayden oil discovery offshore eastern Canada holds 385 million barrels of recoverable oil, which is far bigger than many people expected and puts it on a par with the Norwegian major's nearby 407-million barrel Bay du Nord oil find.

Altogether, this brings to nearly 1 billion barrels the amount of recoverable oil expected to be exploited under Equinor's Bay du Nord project in the Flemish Pass basin in Newfoundland & Labrador waters.
