Domestic gas demand is driving an upsurge of activity in Australia’s conventional and unconventional onshore gas plays, all helped by the federal government’s gas-led economic recovery plan.

There are several established onshore areas, including the Perth and Canning basins in Western Australia, which are mostly conventional plays.

The Cooper basin in South Australia is also a conventional play, and the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland host the large coalbed methane gas fields that support Queensland’s three LNG projects.
