UK supermajor BP has come up dry with the closely watched Ironbark-1 exploration well, off the coast of Western Australia.

Well partner Beach Energy revealed Tuesday the wildcat well in WA-359-P had reached a total depth of 5618 metres and intersected the primary target Mungaroo formation at 5725 metres.

However, Beach revealed “no significant hydrocarbon shows” had been encountered in the target sandstones.
