Chinese operator CNOOC Ltd has made a second "major hydrocarbon discovery" in shallow-water Bohai Bay, according to a government statement.

The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) said the exploration well on an unnamed block flowed 6,577 barrels of oil and 167,000 cubic metres of gas per day, or 7,548 barrels of oil equivalent per day upon testing.

This is the second oil and gas discovery that CNOOC Ltd has made in this area of Bohai Bay.
