Dana Petroleum is looking to start early exploration work in the UK southern North Sea on prospects close to the Tolmount gas development after the award of new licences last week.

In the UK’s 32nd licensing round last week, Dana was granted one licence on a drill-or-drop basis covering blocks 42/27, 47/2b and 47/3g. It will hold a 50% operating interest with partner Premier Oil, also on 50% stake.

The licence is home to two mature prospects known as Earn and Tummel, Upstream understands.
