Bangladesh has indefinitely shelved its already delayed next offshore licensing round due to market uncertainty amid the global coronavirus pandemic.

"We are not thinking of launching the bidding round now," Energy & Mineral Resources Division secretary Anisur Rahman told the Financial Express on Saturday.

The division under the Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources, had planned to float the tender on the 15 September.

Rahman added he was uncertain when the next offshore bidding round would now take place.
