Deltic Energy has boosted the gas resource estimate at its Selene prospect off the UK ahead of an investment decision on a possible wildcat to be drilled with heavyweight partner Shell.

The prospect in Deltic-operated licence P2437, in which it is a 50:50 partner with Shell, is now estimated to hold best estimate contingent in-place resources of 629 billion cubic feet, a 44% increase on the earlier estimate of 437 Bcf, following technical analysis by the pair.

The revised figure is based on a 50% probability that the stated volume will be equalled or exceeded, while the geological chance of success has also been improved from 39% to 70%.
