Italian oil company Eni and US supermajor Chevron have unveiled separate plans to carry out exploration drilling in the Salina basin offshore Mexico, as the duo target hydrocarbons in deep water plays.

Eni has laid out a potential four-well campaign in Block 24, a concession contract it acquired with QatarEnergy in January 2018 during Mexico’s fourth international bid round.

Eni submitted three different case studies to Mexican regulator CNH to fast-track wildcatting activities in water depths of more than 2000 metres.
