Norwegian oil and gas companies Equinor and Vaar Energi have made another oil and gas discovery close to the under-development Johan Castberg field in the Barents Sea.

The Skalv Stoe well — 7220/8-3 — was drilled by the semi-submersible rig Transocean Enabler about five kilometres southwest of Johan Castberg and encountered a three-metre gas column and an oil column of 43 metres in the Stoe formation.
