A “material” light oil discovery has been made by Equinor at the Egyptian Vulture prospect in the Norwegian Sea, partner Longboat Energy said on Monday.

Longboat said Equinor's preliminary estimate of gross recoverable resources in the find is 19 million to 63 million barrels of oil equivalent.

Egyptian Vulture is the second well in a seven-well programme Longboat is pursuing off Norway.

Exploration well 6407/1-9 in the Norwegian Sea encountered light oil in the primary target Lower Cretaceous (Cenomanian) Intra-Lange formation.
