US supermajor ExxonMobil is fast-tracking drilling activities offshore Guyana and has spudded the third exploration well in the Stabroek block this year so far in hopes of extending the discovery streak in the prolific play.

ExxonMobil has already discovered recoverable resources of 10 billion barrels of oil equivalent in Stabroek from a total of 23 major finds since mid-2015, including the recent Fangtooth-1 and Lau Lau-1.

The oil company started drilling on 25 January the Tarpon-1 wildcat with the Stena Drilling drillship Stena DrillMax, according to updated information published by Guyana’s Maritime Administration Department.
