US supermajor ExxonMobil has unveiled a pair of new discoveries offshore Guyana, increasing to seven the number of finds made so far this year in the prolific Stabroek block.

The Kiru Kiru-1 and Seabob-1 discoveries took place to the southeast of the giant Liza and Payara fields, adding to the previous recoverable resource estimate of approximately 11 billion barrels of oil equivalent at Stabroek.

The Seabob-1 well encountered about 40 metres of high-quality oil-bearing sandstone reservoirs and was drilled by the Stena Drilling drillship Stena Carron in 1421 metres of water.
