US supermajor ExxonMobil is gearing up to drill a fresh probe in the Stabroek block as part of a 10-well exploration and appraisal campaign envisioned for the prolific play offshore Guyana this year.

The company is set to use the Stena Drilling drillship Stena DrillMax to spud the Kokwari-1 wildcat in water depths of nearly 2000 metres, a few kilometres north-west of the giant Liza field.

According to updated information provided by Guyana’s Maritime Administration Department, the programme will take place about 190 kilometres from the coast and is due for completion by July.
