Canadian independent Frontera Energy and partner CGX Energy have discovered more oil than what was initially determined at the Kawa-1 wildcat on the Corentyne block offshore Guyana.
Integrated analysis performed in support of the initial interpretation revealed the exploration well encountered about 69 metres — 15 metres more than was initially announced — of hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs within Maastrichtian, Campanian, Santonian and Coniacian horizons.
The results show that the Kawa-1 exploration well successfully discovered light oil in the Santonian and Coniacian and gas condensate in the Maastrichtian and Campanian as supported by cuttings, mud gas and annulus fluid analysis.
