State-owned Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has discovered gas with its Umair South East-1 wildcat located on the Guddu Block in Ghotki District in Sindh province onshore its native Pakistan.

The successful Umair South East-1 exploration well, which opened a new play, was intended to test the hydrocarbon potential of the Pirkoh formation and the Habib Rahi limestone (HRL).

The onshore well, which was spudded on 9 May, was drilled to a subsurface depth of 790 metres in the HRL.
