The string of major discoveries last year in the Guyana-Suriname basin impressed even the most optimistic explorers, with ExxonMobil increasing its recoverable resources to more than 10 billion barrels of oil equivalent.

ExxonMobil shows no signs of stopping. It is targeting numerous wildcats in 2022 in Guyana at the prolific Stabroek block, home of more than 20 finds to date, but also on the Canje and Kaieteur blocks, where it has submitted plans to spud up to 12 wells on each licence over the next few years.
