Australian junior Invictus Energy has appointed a drilling project manager for an exploration well it plans to spud on a huge prospect in Zimbabwe in 2022.

The Mzarabani prospect is estimated to hold 8.2 trillion cubic feet of gas and 250 million barrels of condensate, according to Getech consultancy, while the smaller Msasa structure could host about 1 Tcf of gas and 44 million barrels of liquids.

Invictus has hired Perth-based Aztech Well Construction to oversee drilling operations in the Cabora Bassa basin in northern Zimbabwe.
