Lebanon has extended the closing date of its second offshore licensing round to mid-2023, coinciding with the bid deadline for Israel’s just-launched fourth licensing round.
Both nations will hope that Europe’s surge in interest in the potential of the East Mediterranean region to replace Russian gas supplies will result in a swathe of bids.
Lebanon’s second round was due to close on 15 December this year, but the government has decided to extend the deadline to 30 June 2023, giving interested parties more time to assess data.
