Lundin Norway has lined up semi-submersible rig West Bollsta to drill a further exploration well early next year near its Solveig discovery off the country.

The 16/4-13S probe is set to be drilled in Lundin-operated production licence 359 in January at the earliest to target the so-called Synrift prospect, with an option to drill a sidetrack at the Western Wedge prospect plus further options for two additional sidetracks at each well.

The drilling operation in 102 metres of water has an estimated duration of 39 days for the main well and up to 123 days if options are exercised for all three sidetracks and formation testing is carried out, according to an application filed by the country unit of Lundin Energy with Norway’s Environment Agency.
