ExxonMobil has unveiled another sizeable oil discovery in the prolific Stabroek block off Guyana, which is likely to push its estimated recoverable resources beyond 9 billion barrels of oil equivalent and could form the basis of another full-scale development.
The US giant said on Wednesday that the offshore discovery at the Whiptail-1 prospect encountered 246 feet of net pay in high-quality oil-bearing sandstone reservoirs.
“Drilling is also ongoing at the Whiptail-2 well, which has encountered 167 feet of net pay in high-quality oil-bearing sandstone reservoirs,” it added.
