Mubadala Petroleum plans to drill two near-field exploration wells and one sidetrack well at the Manora oilfield in the Gulf of Thailand.

The Abu Dhabi-based operator expects the US$5.4 million programme to start this November assuming an investment decision is reached next month, said joint venture partner Tap Oil.

Both prospects are within five kilometres of the Manora platform, and success will leverage this existing infrastructure.

The Inthanin prospect could be developed by deviated wells directly from the Manora platform.

Development of the Yothaka–Krissana cluster would require investment in a new wellhead platform tied back to the Manora platform where the oil would be processed and stored on the existing floating storage and offloading vessel.

The Manora field is located in Block G1/48 in the Gulf of Thailand. Mubadala has a 60% operating interest in the project.
