Portuguese player Galp Energia is taking a fresh look at an exploration licence it operates in Namibia’s Orange basin in light of the major Venus and Graff discoveries made by TotalEnergies and Shell.

These ultra-deepwater finds have awakened sleepy players from their Namibian slumbers, forcing them to reassess the hydrocarbon potential of acreage they hold in what JP Morgan recently described in a client note as a "super basin" that extends into South African waters.
