Vancouver-based explorer Reconnaissance Energy Africa aims to spud the first of three wildcats onshore Namibia by the end of June.

ReconAfrica — whose stock trades in Toronto and Frankfurt — operates a vast swathe of acreage in the frontier Kavango basin in north-east Namibia and north-west Botswana, where it has so far drilled two stratigraphic wells and shot a 2D seismic survey.

Information gleaned from last year’s drilling and seismic operations has helped the company better tease out the geology of this previously little-known basin, with a just-completed report pinpointing multiple drilling prospects and a new exploration play.
