A joint venture led by Neptune Energy has hit hydrocarbons at the Calypso exploration well offshore Norway, but still needs to prove if commercial volumes are present.

The Calypso prospect is on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, 14 kilometres north-west of the Draugen field and 22 kilometres north-east of the Njord A platform.

Neptune said that, having entered the reservoir at Calypso, logs proved the presence of hydrocarbons.
