The upstream authorities in Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada have asked oil companies which acreage they want to see released for bidding in a licensing round in 2023.
Known as a call for nominations, these requests are issued regularly by the Canada-Newfoundland & Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (CNLOPB).
The latest call for nominations covers open acreage in the proven Jeanne d’Arc basin, which hosts the large Hibernia, Hebron, terra Nova and White Rose fields.
Industry responses to this call will help CNLOPB decide whether to proceed with a licensing round — or call for bids — next year and, if so, which blocks would be offered.
