India’s state-controlled Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is poised to launch a deep-water exploration campaign in the Andaman basin, off the country’s eastern coast.
ONGC told Upstream on Thursday: “India is making a big push for oil and gas exploration in Andaman deep-water basin,” and the company has been entrusted by the Indian government “to steer the drilling programme” of three to four wells.
The company is in talks with ExxonMobil and Shell for a “possible participation in the Andaman offshore exploration programme”.
