Mexican state-owned oil company Pemex is preparing to spud within days a new exploration well in the Sureste basin off the coast of Tabasco state.

The country’s hydrocarbons regulator CNH cleared Pemex to drill the Kante-1EXP wildcat at the shallow-water AE-0154-2M-Chalabil assignment.

The Kante-1EXP campaign is expected to begin on 19 November and last approximately one month.

Pemex will employ the CIMC Raffles-owned independent-leg cantilever jack-up drilling rig Gulf Driller VIII to spud Kante-1EXP in 23 metres of water to a final depth of 2000 metres.
